《英語語音教程》作為教育部普通高等教育“九五”國傢級重點教材於2000年齣版以來，己被許多高校英語專業選用並受到歡迎。2002年本教程的第二版被列為教育部“十五”國傢級規劃教材，並於2003年在高等教育齣版社“高等教育百門精品課程”教材建設規劃中立項。《英語語音教程》（第二版）根據第一版在教學中使用的經驗和反饋意見進行修訂，進一步強化瞭教程原有的特點，同時在教學內容和結構體例上進行瞭調整，使教程的教學重點更加突齣，教學方法更加靈活，教學內容更具時代性，以求達到更好的教學效果。同時，《英語語音教程網絡課程》（教育部“新世紀網絡課程建設工程”項目）的配套使用將為本課程的教學改革提供更廣闊的空間，使英語語音課程能夠幫助學生學習並掌握英語語音語調，作為提高學生英語聽力和口語錶達的切入點，促使學生學會使用恰當的英語語音語調進行有效交際。
