　　神秘的宇宙
　　一、宇宙的起源学说
　　盖天说
　　我们知道，地球是茫茫宇宙空间中的一个球体。但这一科学常识，很早很早的古人却不知道。他们眼望浩瀚的太空，脚踏广阔的大地，构想着天地的关系、宇宙的结构。他们发现，头上的天是圆穹形的，脚下的地是平坦状的。凭着这种直观感觉，他们认为，蓝天像一个大圆盖，或者说像一个大帐篷，笼罩在棋盘般的大地上。他们甚至还噫测出，这“大棋盘”每边长81万里，天和地之间的距离为8万里。这种“天圆地方”的看法，便是古老的“盖天说”，也是我国最早的宇宙结构学说。它的产生年代可追溯到奴隶制社会的周代，并一直影响着后世。
　　随着生产力的发展，古人的认识水平逐渐地提高了起来。他们慢慢地感觉到，这“天圆地方”有些不大切合实际。因为天若是一个大圆盖，地是一个正方形的大棋盘，那天盖地时，四角怎么合得拢呢？于是，在公元前6世纪，人们修正了最初的“天圆地方”说法，改为：天和地不相交接，天像一把特大的伞，悬罩在大地的上空，周围有8根巨大的柱子，支撑着它。在柱子的顶端和伞的边缘，有无数条绳子，连接着它们的枢纽。这一修改，天地的样子便成了一个有8根柱子的圆顶凉亭。这种修改后的宇宙图式，也难以让人信服。因此，又有人提出天像一顶头戴的斗笠，地像一个倒扣的盘子。北极是天的最高点，四面倾斜而下。
