在古日本有位背上长上一对翅膀的女孩子（称为翼人）。翼人一直是古日本的兵器，最后一个翼人神奈备命，被视为接近神的人一直被当作求神赐予粮食的工具，因为如此，令外界对她又爱又怕，视为不祥又视为神圣。后来遇上了被派来“保护”她的柳也，和女官里叶一起去寻找母亲（八百比丘尼）。寻找到母亲后不久母亲就被弓兵射死，神奈是在空中被弓兵乱箭射死和被降魔咒所伤。可是死后她没有掉下来，而是在空中飘浮着，并且受到诅咒，堕入无限的轮回，一直被困在悲伤的梦中。里叶和柳也为了帮助神奈，决定为了替神奈解咒，要诞下后代来替自己完成心愿。

　　1959年，我读完小学，考上初中。这在今日，实属平常，但在当时，还真算回事儿。家里人认为，中学生就不能再看作小孩子了。身份变了，待遇也随之改变。印象深刻的有三条：一是有了早餐费，可以到街上“自主择食”（上小学时只能在家吃早点）；二是可以使用钢笔（上小学时只能使用铅笔）；三就是可以读大人们读的书了（上小学时只能看童话和连环画）。这第三条待遇我还提前享受：在开学前的暑假中，我一口气读了许多“大人书”。
