作者簡介

Stephen Farthing is a painter and the Rootstein Hopkins Research Professor in Drawing at the University of the Arts, London. He has been teaching fine arts since 1977 and his paintings are exhibited in galleries throughout the world.

1001幅作品大緻是從文藝復興到現在的歐洲繪畫變化和發展情況。版麵不大，圖片隻有每頁的一半大小並附有簡要文字說明。不全是經典名作，大部分作品對於一個普通中國人來說都很陌生，近100年的現代繪畫作品幾乎占瞭一大半。對於世界美術史的研究（特彆是近現代美術運動）是一個很好的瞭解與補充。
