奥利弗•巴特沃司，1915年出生在美国康涅狄格州盼哈特佛德。他在中学和大学任过教。他的作品受马克•吐温的影响较大。巴特沃司的《我的宠物是恐龙》(又名《奇异的蛋》)发表于1965年，1977年被列为美国“不可忘怀的好书”之一，还被改编成了电视片，获得很大成功。
