瞭不起的小偵探內特接到瞭第一個晚上辦的案子！每天晚上都有人將奧利弗傢的垃圾箱翻個底朝天，但是是誰乾的呢？嫌疑犯名字的列錶很長——羅莎濛德和埃斯梅拉達，住在街道另一側的兩個女孩；羅莎濛德的幾隻貓；所有的地鼠、鼴鼠、臭鼬、鳥和周圍鄰居養的浣熊。小偵探內特非常勇敢地麵對一隻臭鼬（鼻子先倒黴），之後又撞到瞭電綫杆（腦袋又遭殃），但是直到他自己隱藏在垃圾箱蓋子下，他纔將嫌疑犯的數量範圍縮小到瞭唯一的一個。
