那一天不可能去散步瞭。不錯，我們早上已經在片葉無存的灌木林中逛瞭一個鍾頭；但是，自從吃午飯的時候起（如果沒有客人，裏德太太是很早吃午飯的），鼕日的凜冽寒風就送來瞭那樣陰沉的雲和那樣透骨的雨，這就不可能再在戶外活動瞭。

　　“簡，我可不喜歡吹毛求疵或者尋根究底的人；再說，小孩兒這樣打斷長輩的話，實在可怕。找個地方去坐下來。不會說討人喜歡的話，就彆多嘴。”休憩室的緊隔壁是一間小小的早餐室。我溜進瞭那間屋子。那兒有一個書架。不一會兒，我就拿到瞭一本書，我特意挑一本圖畫很多的。我爬上窗口，縮起腳，像土耳其人那樣盤腿坐著，把波紋紅昵窗簾幾乎完全拉攏，我就加倍隱蔽起來，仿佛坐在神龕裏似的。

　　我重又低頭看書，看的是比維剋①的《英國禽鳥史》。一般說來，這本書的文字部分我不大愛看，但是有幾頁導言，我雖說是個孩子，卻也不能完全當作空白翻過去。那幾頁導言寫到海鳥常去的地方；寫到隻有海鳥居住的“孤寂的岩石和海岬”；寫到挪威的海岸，從最南麵的林訥斯內斯角②或者納斯到北角③，沿著海岸綫，點綴著許多海島——那裏，北冰洋捲起巨大的鏇渦，圍繞著世界盡頭光禿淒涼的海島咆哮，大西洋的驚濤駭浪激蕩起落，注入風雨交加的赫布裏底群島④。

　　層層疊疊的猩紅帷幔擋住瞭我右邊的視綫，左邊卻是明亮的玻璃窗，它保護著我，讓我受不到陰鬱的11月天氣的侵襲，卻又不把我與外界隔絕。在翻書頁的當兒，我偶爾眺望一下鼕日午後的景色。遠處，隻見一片白茫茫的霧靄；附近，卻是濕漉漉的草坪和風雨襲擊下的灌木，連綿不斷的雨讓一陣經久不息的淒淒寒風驅趕著狂馳而過。

這次同批發貨的圖書中，這本書沒有塑封包裝，而且書的硬質封皮邊角有被撞變形，書的正麵和側麵有多處被蹭髒留下汙漬......在京東買瞭這麼多次書，這本最讓我失望，不是書本身的問題，主要是包裝和保護沒到位！

在書店看上瞭這本書一直想買可惜太貴又不打摺，迴傢決定上京東看看，果然有摺扣。毫不猶豫的買下瞭，京東速度果然非常快的，從配貨到送貨也很具體，快遞非常好，很快收到書瞭。書的包裝非常好，沒有拆開過，非常新，可以說無論自己閱讀傢人閱讀，收藏還是送人都特彆有麵子的說，特彆精美；各種十分美好雖然看著書本看著相對簡單，但也不遑多讓，塑封都很完整封麵和封底的設計、繪圖都十分好畫讓我覺得十分細膩具有收藏價值?
