一千零一夜的英文版本很多，Everyman的这个版本只能说一般，插图不是很精致。

这次同批发货的图书中，这本书没有塑封包装，而且书的硬质封皮边角有被撞变形，书的正面和侧面有多处被蹭脏留下污渍......在京东买了这么多次书，这本最让我失望，不是书本身的问题，主要是包装和保护没到位！

　　层层叠叠的猩红帷幔挡住了我右边的视线，左边却是明亮的玻璃窗，它保护着我，让我受不到阴郁的11月天气的侵袭，却又不把我与外界隔绝。在翻书页的当儿，我偶尔眺望一下冬日午后的景色。远处，只见一片白茫茫的雾霭；附近，却是湿漉漉的草坪和风雨袭击下的灌木，连绵不断的雨让一阵经久不息的凄凄寒风驱赶着狂驰而过。

　　还有一些部分我也不能放过，那就是下面这些地方的荒凉海岸：拉普兰，西伯利亚，斯匹次卑尔根⑥，新地岛，冰岛和格陵兰，还有“那辽阔的北极区域，和那些阴暗地带荒无人烟的地区；那儿是冰雪的贮藏所，经过几百个隆冬的积累，已经成了一片坚实的冰野，像阿尔卑斯山般一峰高似一峰，冰面晶莹光滑，绕着地极，积聚了严寒的无穷威力”。对这些惨白色的区域，我形成了一个我自己的看法：朦朦胧胧，像在孩子们脑海里沉浮的似懂非懂的概念，却又出奇地生动。这几页导言里的文字都是和后面的小插图有关联的：屹立在波涛汹涌、浪花飞溅的大海中的岩石，搁浅在荒凉海岸上的破船，还有那从云缝间俯视沉舟的幽灵般的月亮，导言中的文字就使这些画面变得重要了。
