The Silmarillion is an account of the Elder Days, of the First Age of Tolkien's world. It is the ancient drama to which the characters in The Lord of the Rings look back, and in whose events some of them such as Elrond and Galadriel took part. The tales of The Silmarillion are set in an age when Morgoth, the first Dark Lord, dwelt in Middle-Earth, and the High Elves made war upon him for the recovery of the Silmarils, the jewels containing the pure light of Valinor. Included in the book are several shorter works. The Ainulindale is a myth of the Creation and in the Valaquenta the nature and powers of each of the gods is described. The Akallabeth recounts the downfall of the great island kingdom of Numenor at the end of the Second Age and Of the Rings of Power tells of the great events at the end of the Third Age, as narrated in The Lord of the Rings.For the first time, we are publishing a deluxe edition of this pivotal work, featuring the revised, corrected text and including, by way of an introduction, a fascinating letter written by Tolkien in 1951 in which he gives a full explanation of how he conceived the early Ages of Middle-earth. J.R.R. Tolkien (1892-1973) is the creator of Middle-earth and author of such classic and extraordinary works of fiction as The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, and The Silmarillion. His books have been translated into more than fifty languages and have sold many millions of copies worldwide.

包裝隻套瞭塑料袋，還好沒問題。書有塑封，精美非常，包裝大氣，這一套加起來實在無法承受，買本精靈寶鑽收藏一下還是可以的?

花大價錢買這種精裝書，本來就是用來收藏的，收到貨我就震驚瞭，這是什麼包裝，一點保護措施都沒有，直接套個京東的塑料袋就完事瞭，結果可想而知，造成外套書殼坑坑窪窪，極不美觀，很失望。還是要找專門賣進口書的公司，那包裝纔是真正良心。
