　　人们总是善于遗忘。立志创新、探索未知的我们是否该对于已知的、我们人类曾经有过的经验加以重视呢？

　　最近各种竞赛不断，关注的点也常常是“蚁族”等我们在城市的生存空间问题。很多学生也常常关注，甚至热血澎湃的参与其中。从积极性上讲，这当然是件好事。但是，仅仅有积极性也并不意味着能解决问题。就像戴同学的“城市下的蛋”，既有想象力，更有实践力。但是，他确实不能作为我们的根本出路。这本书向我们展现了西方在一百年前和我们现在一样的困境。支持我一口气读完400多页书的，也常常是这样的感叹，原来这样的想法100年前就已经有了，甚至比我们现在做的还要好。

　　我想从两方面谈及我的这种感受，也就是书的主要的两个部分：A.批判地记叙现代建筑 B.作者的立场，即对批判的地域主义的毫不吝啬的赞扬。

　　其实日本建筑之所以走到今天的成就，决不仅是我们看到的那十几个大师的名字。而是在他们之后几代的普通建筑师作为一砖一瓦所构筑起来的，他们默默地踏实地做了很多我们现在看起来很不削去做的基本工作，比如外国著作的翻译，以及人体尺度等看起来是小问题的研究。当年很多建筑师一辈子唯一做的一件事就是认认真真翻译了国外的基本重要的著作，而且翻译的质量非常高。就连日本一直投身实践的一线建筑师也有很多精彩的译著，比如柯林罗的《透明性》的日文版的译者就是伊东丰雄。很多中国留学生出去后抱怨要读的书国内没有译本，得需要自己翻译，而日本的留学生都可以找到译本，节省了很多时间。当然，也许恰恰读原著是件好事，但是，我想说的，这意味着国内的大部分建筑学的学生是读不到的，而日本本土的学生在日本也能看到，至少在书籍资源上与世界同步。而且，每次一次次、一个个的抱怨之后，还是没有人愿意把那些好书书引进到中国来，也或者还远远不能让人满意。这种国内的资源匮乏，就会引起国内学生的无知以及自我膨胀。我们身边的每个人都想当大师，但不管怎样我还是希望我们一步一步做，从一些基础的工作做起。因为在中国愿意做这些基础研究的人太少了，以至于做了些基础的传统材料研究就马上成为先锋了。
