姚大力，复旦大学历史地理研究中心教授，清华大学国学研究院特聘教授。主要专业方向为元史、中国边疆史地。毕业于昆明师范学院史地系、南京大学研究生院，获中国社会科学院历史学博士学位。1987至1991年任南京大学历史学系系主任。1993至1995年、2005至2006年分别在哈佛一燕京学社、哈佛大学、庆应大学做访问学者各一年。先后发表论文及学术评论近百篇，部分结集为《北方民族史十论》（广西师范大学出版社）、《蒙元制度与政治文化》（北京大学出版社）、《追寻“我们”的根源：中国史上的族群及国家认同》（三联书店，即出）等书出版。
