Peter Thiel is anentrepreneurandinvestor. He started PayPal in 1998, led it as CEO,and tookitpublic in 2002, defining a new era of fast andsecureonlinecommerce. In 2004 he made the first outside investmentinFacebook,where he serves as a director. The same year helaunchedPalantirTechnologies, a software company that harnessescomputerstoempower human analysts in fields like national securityandglobalfinance. He has provided early funding for LinkedIn,Yelp,anddozens of successful technology startups, many runbyformercolleagues who have been dubbed the “PayPal Mafia.” He isapartnerat Founders Fund, a Silicon Valley venture capital firmthathasfunded companies like SpaceX and Airbnb. He startedtheThielFellowship, which ignited a national debate byencouragingyoungpeople to put learning before schooling, and heleads theThielFoundation, which works to advance technologicalprogress andlong-term thinking about the future.
