　　他相當贊同伊壁鳩魯“過隱蔽的生活”的主張。他痛斥極端追求榮譽的哲學傢卡捏阿德斯說，我感到難受的是，這種看法竟會在被榮幸地稱為哲學傢的頭腦中産生。他說，有人為人正派隻是為瞭讓彆人知道，讓彆人知道後更器重他，他隻有在彆人可能知道的情況下采取做好事，對這樣的人不能期望過高。他說，正直的人做瞭好事會感到心滿意足。錶現勇敢應該是為瞭自己，而且這樣的好處，就是培養十分堅強的內心，可以抗拒命運的任何打擊……同榮譽相比，這種好處顯得尤為重要，也更值得我們起期望和追求，因為榮譽隻是彆人對我們的贊賞。

拿在手上的感覺很好，紙質的手感也很好。字體看起來很舒服。買過企鵝版， 兩本對照著看嘍，譯文畢竟還是不一樣的。內容就不用說瞭，不好是不會購買的。就是外封套感覺有點髒。
