  【距離幾何學:空間測距、定位網絡,互聯、物聯時空的新基準】

  以前在榖歌[X]實驗室工作時,經常會嚮麵試的同學提一個類似腦筋急轉彎的問題:能否在二維平麵上找到4個不重閤的點,使得它們兩兩之間距離相等?如果是放置在三維空間中的四個點呢?又或者在地球錶麵上的四個點呢(假設地球錶麵是一個完美的圓球麵)?
  讀到這裏,可能會有人心存疑惑,這和本文主題有關係嗎?不要小看這個問題,其中蘊藏著關於距離幾何學的大學問哦。所謂距離幾何學,就是通過網絡節點和節點之間的距離測量來推知網絡的整體幾何性質,比如每個節點的物理位置、網絡直徑和節點分布等。這些節點可以是路由器,也可以是手機,又或者是我們佩戴的手環。設想未來某天,當你走進博物館參觀,展廳本身擁有一個實時搭建的局域人機交互網絡,可以定位網絡中每個節點,也就是觀眾攜帶的手機、手環、眼鏡,甚至衣服、鞋子等物品,當參觀者位置移動到某一展品附近時,手機或者展館屏幕上自動彈齣該展品的介紹,觀眾與展品甚至可以像《哈利·波特》裏描述的那樣與畫中人互動。這樣的高能博物館,是不是超級酷?
  距離幾何學是數學中的一個有趣的分支,不僅自身充滿瞭濃鬱的理論趣味,還有著廣泛的實際應用價值,在物聯網、機器學習、計算機視覺與可視化研究,以及傳感網絡的位置服務等應用中都發揮瞭非常重要的作用。可以說是這些領域背後黑科技的一部分,近幾年來越發引起科學界的關注與重視。本文主要圍繞距離測量,基於距離信息的幾何學、室內定位,以及其他各類神奇的應用來展開。希望本文的介紹能為對這一領域感興趣的讀者帶來啓發。
  從Internet of Things 到Location of Things
  Internet of Things(簡稱IoT),就是我們通常說的物聯網,這個概念相信大傢都不陌生。萬物有靈,互聯互通,物聯網的世界是豐富多彩的,每個日常生活物品都可以在物聯網的作用下實時地感知周圍的環境,形成網絡集群效應。舉個例子,我們可以在傢部署多個測量距離的傳感器設備,使得這些設備之間可以互相定位,形成一個局域網絡,用於跟蹤和定位物體,實時地根據進入這個環境的客人的位置信息有選擇地推送相關的信息或者提供其他服務內容。在不久的未來,甚至可以讓傢裏的桌椅、茶杯、衣服、毛巾都具備傳感與通信功能,它們可以感知彼此的存在,協同工作,為主人生活起居帶來更多舒適與便捷。結束瞭一天的工作,拎包走齣辦公室前,你或許可以給大管傢冰箱打個電話,大管傢會轉告電飯煲和烤箱,提前煲上米飯、烤上豬排,這樣到傢時就可以吃上熱騰騰的豬排飯啦,這樣的日子,豈不妙哉。
  想吃豬排飯,要先學會如何構建傳感網絡的自組織圖用來定位彼此。讀者可能會問,這又有何難度呢?用GPS(全球定位係統)不就可以瞭嘛!問題是,商用的衛星GPS信號通常在充滿遮擋物的城市角落或者大樓內部工作不佳。同時GPS的定位精度也不夠準備,在沒有遮擋物乾擾的空曠戶外,除非是使用軍用GPS,一般的民用GPS定位精度通常隻在10米左右,用作車輛導航是夠瞭,但想要精確定位一個手掌大小的物體,這樣的精度遠遠不夠用。想要實現毫米級彆的幾何信息定位,我們需要尋找新的解決辦法。
  目前室內定位的研究重心就在於如何建立一套完整的軟硬件體係可以保證實時並且精確地定位特定物體。2015年筆者曾在西雅圖參加並且觀摩瞭IPSN會議上舉行的室內定位大賽,目前最優的定位方案大約可以達到20厘米左右的定位精度。[1]高精度的實時定位可以讓用戶獲得許多新的神奇體驗,比如增強現實!你舉起手機對著桌麵看,攝像頭看到瞭桌麵上的物體如遙控器和鑰匙鏈,同時係統準確定位瞭桌麵上的這些物體位置,於是原先用箭頭顯示的物體坐標就會變為該物體的虛擬現實形象顯示在屏幕上,實現同一物體的真實和虛擬形象疊加。不僅如此,你可以靠近或遠離它們,變換朝嚮,真實世界和虛擬世界配閤得天衣無縫。
  Location of Things(簡稱LoT),顧名思義,就是在IoT的基礎上賦予每一個物體具體的物理位置標誌。LoT這個名詞挺時髦的。筆者最早是在以色列的一傢叫作getpixie的公司的宣傳標語上看到這個詞。該公司生産一種非常小巧的類似鑰匙鏈的小標牌。標牌和標牌之間可以精準地測量相互間的距離。它的一個最神奇的應用就是可以通過自組織網絡尋找藏匿在傢中的物品。LoT還有很多有趣的應用,比如說室內定位:當用戶走進一傢商場,商傢會根據其位置自動選擇廣告推送的內容;當該用戶走近貨架瀏覽商品時,商品的信息實時地在手機端顯示齣來,並可以根據用戶位置做齣相應調整;如果舉起相機,商店中各個商品的位置和介紹就會疊加在一起,形成360度全景縱深圖(如圖3),起到增強現實效果的作用;此外,當不小心丟失瞭某個重要物品時,可以通過手機輕鬆定位該物體,並將其位置傳送到屏幕上,這簡直是“馬大哈”和“小迷糊”們的福音,從此以後再也不用擔心丟東西啦。
  LoT的實現,依托的是一套自組織網絡以及定位網絡係統,這個係統假設所有的定位都是通過設備與設備間的距離測量以及動態構建自組織網絡來進行的。設備與人之間的距離測量也可以通過相機和計算機視覺技術、超聲波探測,或者基於無綫頻段的雷達來實現,希望先瞭解雷達測距的讀者可以參考筆者在本書的另一篇文章——《雷達照進商業》。目前關於LoT最普及的測距方法是利用iBeacon技術(見圖4)。iBeacon主要基於低功耗藍牙技術(Bluetooth Low Energy,簡稱BLE)。通常隻需要一個紐扣電池就可以持續工作至少一年。除瞭能提供低速率(10KB/s)的通信和信息傳輸之外,iBeacon之間還可以通過測量電磁波信號強度(Returend Signal Strength Index, 簡稱RSSI)來間接計算iBeacon之間的物理距離。
  除瞭iBeacon之外,也有不少其他測距的方法,比如通過超聲波、磁場變化、激光鐳射,或者超寬頻技術來實現物體間的定位。這些方法都是利用測量信號的飛行時間差來計算距離。這些技術有的已經非常成熟,可以投入到特定的商業應用中去,有的仍然在研發階段,仍需時日纔能大規模量産。圖5列舉瞭目前市麵上可見的一些區彆於iBeacon的定位方案以及測距技術。

前言/序言

  【前言 黑科技地圖:浮現中的未來星球】

  技術正在經曆從“計算”、“連接”再到“智慧”的進化。相對而言,以計算科技為主要錶徵的Information Technology是第一浪,是為IT;Internet是第二浪,喜歡大詞的業者將這個階段稱之為信息革命之網絡革命;現如今,Intelligent Technology這一浪已然來臨,這一浪是新IT,不是IT。
  連接依然是效率與紅利之源,但連接不再是邊際效益、外部性、增量、賦能最顯著的價值源泉,即使IoT未來也是如此,傳感、數據、智能纔是未來。這種背景下,互聯網+雖然創新務實,卻可能導緻戰略跑偏。至於移動互聯網、智能互聯網等,隻是插麯或新階段到來前的短暫序麯。站在互聯網中心論的角度看,中國已經迎頭趕上甚至已然超越,成為挑戰舊世界的那個新世界,但是站在Intelligent Technology角度看,互聯網纔是舊世界,中國是舊世界裏的龐然大物,但舊世界與新世界的時差、代差、落差已然赫然存在。有個報告說根據發錶的論文和引用數量,從近兩年開始中國、華人已經處於人工智能研究的領先地位,占據半壁江山。並稱連白宮報告都對此感到“eclipsed”,可是AI不是發paper,從FutureLabsFL未來實驗室的AI技術地圖來看,結論大為不同。不過,國傢、地域、産業之爭並不重要,重要的是未來星球的創新生態與技術變遷。
  新世界的變化正在9個”維度”發生,可以透過9度理論(今次不展開)觀察未來:能量密度、數據密度、連接密度、感知尺度、網絡尺度、材料尺度、計算速度、移動速度、融閤速度。9度漸進、突變甚至躍遷,正在讓創新從奔騰走嚮沸騰,技術使得IT新物種的催生變得像代碼編程一樣簡單和快,創新本身的特性、形態和規律也變得不同以往。而貫穿一切、賦能一切、驅動一切、智慧一切的,是Intelligence。不過,Intelligent Technology智慧科技,遠不隻是智能,智能也不隻是人工智能,AI驅動一切但不是未來的全部。
  微分一切,流化一切,重構一切,感知一切,連接一切,智能一切。此時此刻,我們的確站在一個時代和另一個時代、一個生態和另一個生態的分水嶺上。像是一場復雜而又絢麗的化學反應,創新大爆炸的技術進化圖景已經躍然眼前。AI 方嚮,開源開放、AI芯片、雲端並進……令到業者不僅看到AI的引擎化,更看到AI和數據、傳感一起,已然成為下一代信息基礎設施的核心部分。無論輿論如何褒貶不一,泡沫論如何甚囂塵上,新能源技術的強烈閃電已經映入每個人的瞳孔,滾滾雷聲已經由遠及近。能源傳輸走嚮無綫,數據傳輸走嚮無綫隻是起點,天空互聯、星際互聯似乎纔是短期內能看得到的網絡盡頭。計算、網絡在基礎架構中的位置甚至因此變得不再醒目。無論計算如何速度,無論網絡如何泛在,智能、腦以及腦計劃纔是下一階段最重要的藍圖,這裏不僅指對人腦的探索,更指網腦、智腦的聯結成形、日益進化和效能提升。如果說體外骨骼隻是人體增強與輔助係統,柔性電子、腦電腦波、腦機接口、生物芯片、類人機器人等則開始間接直接指嚮人的重塑甚至重生,生命與非生命開始交融,生物與物的邊界開始模糊。生物信息科技,更為強悍和迅猛,直指自然人本身,生命解碼之後是生命編輯,基因測序之後最赫赫然的是internet of DNA、CRISPR等。純粹的自然人也許會消失,人的進化和提升已經開始通過科技手段來完成,人的存在形態甚至不必隻是自然人。而一個正在反嚮進行的過程是,Computer Vison、SLAM、AI、傳感等又在將感官甚至思維賦予機器人。
  這不是一場知識大爆炸,也不隻是一場信息大爆炸,而是一場技術驅動的創新大爆炸,我們已經進入代際更替意義上的新一輪創新周期。不同部分並非孤立,而是緊密聯結互相催化,共同催生技術、産品、企業、産業、組織、經濟、社會乃至人本身的漸變創新與突變進化,催化全球範圍內新IT不同於傳統IT産業的産業轉移和産業分工。這就是人工智能、VR-AR-MR、機器人、智能汽車、智能傢居、大數據、雲計算、無人機、個人飛行器、可穿戴設備、物聯網、天空互聯網、生物信息、金融科技、3D打印、智能製造、新能源、新材料等世界範圍內二十多個智慧科技關鍵細分領域,黑科技頻頻湧現的原因。FutureLabsFL與未來智庫閤作,産生這二十多個關鍵領域技術産品的黑科技地圖,為未來星球探索科技大奬的國際評審廓清視野,提供可資參照的技術圖譜。探索創新科技,連接星球未來,未來星球探索科技大奬,浩瀚星河中指嚮未來的點點微光。

  無論正在實驗室裏創造發明的人,還是已經寫齣一行行代碼準備要改變世界的人,抑或是準備以創業創新顛覆既有秩序的人,更或者透過媒體輿論來閱讀觀察理解紛繁變化的人,每個人都是未來星球的探索者,就是《黑科技》齣現在您麵前的原因。
  科技創新,需要業者一起探索;技術驅動的種種進化,需要集體智慧認知把握;而未來星球,需要我們共同麵對。這纔是真的命運共同體。

My ship, the Voyager, a speck of stardust itself, hummed a low, steady melody, the soundtrack to my solitary journey. I am Elara Vance, an independent xenobotanist, charting the forgotten corners of the galaxy, seeking not conquest, nor riches, but the silent stories whispered by alien flora.
