Personal StatementBackground and 0bjective "Never give up，"my mother has always said to me．I gained strength from her ords every time 1 was faced with difficulties and was about to give up．When was in high school，my mother was laid off by her company．But with thehelp from the local government and her own determination，she started herown printing business，which has been very successful．With my mother as anexample，I have learned to be independent and hard-working for I know success1S the result of one"S determination and hard WOrk．1 will graduate from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineeringat Zhejiang University,China，in the summer of 2005．In order to succeed inthis increasingly competitive world，I must work hard to pursue my goal ofbecoming a research scientist in the field of electrical and electronicengineering．With my outstanding performance in undergraduate studies andmy interest and determination，I have decided to further my studies in theUnited States．I believe pursuing a higher degree abroad holds the key tO myprofessional advancement and a better future．IntellectuaI and Research InterestsMy interest has always been in electrical and electronic engineering．How achip coulddo so manythingssuchascompufmgandcontrolliugwassomethingmysterioustomeasachildThemysteryfadedaway gradually，butmy interest has grown stronger after I took courses in electronics and circuits at Zhejiang University．I have performed successfully in all the major courses with a GPA of 3．85／4．0 Last year，I joined a Student Research Training Program（SRTP） in the university,a program which aims at helping students develop research skills．I am now working with other four classmates in a project called "Operating Reserve Assessment in Electric Power Systems"．I have attempted to use a mathematical model based on a hybrid deterministic and probabilistic approach to assess the Operating Reserve．We hope that the new method will help to improve the conventional approaches used in the power system in China．The project is still in progress and is moving on smoothly．
I have also participated in a group in which students from many departments in the university are working together to design and make robots for the ABU Asia-Pacific Robot Contest，Bangkok 2004．We are nOW working in the National Key Lab of Industrial Control Technology at the university under the guidance of Professor Wang Dawei，an eminent specialist in robotics．I find the project intellectually stimulating and inspiring．

前言/序言

作为一名英文教师，经常有人请我审订一些具有真实交际用途的材料，如英文的实用书信、通知。改革开放以来，我审订更多的是去国外求学、向跨国公司或合资企业求职所需的各类文书，如英文的简历、附函、自述和推荐信，还有一些是单位的英文简介。我们通常的做法是按中文拟定的稿子翻译。但是，由于汉英两种语言和文化的差异，这样做的结果常常是或失之生硬，或失之牵强。何不按照中文用英文直接撰写呢？
近年来，大学本科高年级学生和研究生更需要用英文写论文摘要，直至用英文撰写一篇完整的论文。学生的迫切需求和对英文写作的极大兴趣促使我自2001年起面向全校本科生和研究生开设英文写作课，课程大受学生欢迎；与此同时，我对英文写作从理论到实践有多年的兴趣和积累，所以就开始编写这本《实用英文写作》教程。
本教程由三大部分构成：第一部分，也即第一单元，讲述优秀作文的特点和写作的过程。这一单元旨在提高学生对写作的一些意识，使学生在一开始就对优秀作文的特点和写作的过程有一个明晰的了解。接下来的两大部分是本书的主要内容。第二部分，实用英文写作。这部分包含了从简单的便条写作、电子邮件写作、一个单位的英文简介写作、英文水平考试作文写作到求学、求职所需的各种申请文书的写作。第三部分，英文研究论文写作。这部分以实验为基础的研究论文为原型、以构成论文的五大部分（摘要、引言、研究方法、研究结果和讨论）作为单元进行编写。考虑到学生来自不同的专业系科，英文样例原文选自教育学、应用语言学、心理学、医学、管理科学、计算机科学，材料科学、机械工程和土木工程等学科。教程正文后的附录包含：英文易混淆词语辨释、英文书信格式、英文标点用法、沦文引文规范等内容，使教程同时具备手册的特点。

从豆瓣贴过来骗分的。。。 　 也许是意识形态的缘故，也许是民族天性的缘故，总之，百年辛亥革命演绎到今天，给人们的印象，除了宏大，就是伟光正。如此语境下，细节化历史遂成为一种稀缺。 　　 我一直认为，没有细节，就没有真相。所以，通读雪珥的新著《辛亥：计划外革命－1911年的民生与民声》，获得的是一番痛快淋漓的阅读体验。 　　 正如雪珥在书中所云：“为什么帝国的列车会在加速革新进程中突然出轨？这其中的大量细节还被湮没在光环背后的阴影之中。”所以，“我们还是该回归常识，从帝国列车的出轨现场一步步回溯，从官场、商场的每一个凡人的每一个细节，去捡拾、拼接并努力还原当年的场景。如此这般，我们或许能够找出一份更有意义的帝国出轨事故报告。” 　　 不得不承认，这份报告很详尽，很赤裸，也就是很成功。但是，真相是残酷的，更是习惯宏大叙事及伟光正标签的一些读者接受不了的。甚至有人在微博上问及雪珥本人：你的书中，咋就没有一个好人呢？ 　　 有没有好人不是问题，读者看书，就是寻找好人，才是问题。 　　 雪珥可不管这些，他噼哩啪啦，就提交一份报告，这报告叫谁瞧了都难受。首先，中国的近代化，从国门被打开那一刻，就算起步了。 可是之前磨磨蹭蹭，之后随着危机的加深，逐渐走向激进。立宪派的立宪时间表是激进的，革命派的共和目标更是激进的。从某种程度上来讲，它们都是另一种版本的大跃进！其次，不管是枪杆子，还是笔杆子，刨除掉伟大光荣正确的外衣，里面呈现的，只有利益二字。大清帝国出轨，乃是缘于铁路出轨；而铁路出轨，乃是缘于国营民营的进退。按一般常识，我们知道国营不靠谱，可是看雪珥的报告，我们发现，民营也不靠谱，甚至比国更加腐败与混乱：“17家民营铁路公司，家家都是乌烟瘴气”！ 　　 腐败混乱、乌烟瘴气不可怕，我们见多不怪了。我们害怕的是，爱国主义成了流氓恶棍的庇护所。明明是利益在作崇，却高叫着爱国主义与民族主义。再退一步，流氓恶棍我们也不怕，哪个国度又能没有流氓恶棍呢？我们怕的是，流氓恶棍扯出爱国主义与民族主义的招牌。再退一步，扯出伟大光荣正确的招牌我们也不怕，哪个旮旯不蹲着几几个蒙面人呢？我们怕的是，蒙面人一出手，却能迅速煽动波大无脑的民众跟在他们身后运动。群众运动，说穿了就是运动群众。 　　 四川保路运动，就是这样开张的。 　　 四川保路运动，最终演绎成了帝国政府多米诺骨牌的第一张。一切随之轰然而倒。在这一场事故中，倒下的，不见得是豆腐渣；立起的，不见得是优品精良。都说大浪淘沙，可是大浪也能淘金啊……以至于直到今天，我们还在反省这场事故，到底哪儿出错了？还在向往清末的宪政，如果没有这场事故，我们是不是早就成就了模范宪政？ 　　 历史不能假设，但是在历史的三岔口张望，目睹着这个民族总是在路径选择的时候只奔那个最坏的路口，怎么说都会让人羞愤不已。 总之，看看雪珥此书，增加些羞愤吧。雪珥的书不是慰安的，是揭伤疤的。揭得痛了，不只能引起疗救者的注意，还会引起伤者自身的痛楚。所谓的历史智慧，说白些就是不能光记吃，还得记打。否则历史会换一件外衣，重新演绎到我们眼前，信否？
